The Great RP Challenge: Take Two!

TGRPC
What is The Great RP Challenge?
TGRPC is a month-long challenge to get out and RP with characters and players you might not always come into contact with. The basic challenge is to RP with 5 different characters throughout the month, even better if they're not characters that you usually RP with. However, there's also the additional challenge to RP with more people than anyone else.

How do I sign up?
You don't have to. Anyone wishing to participate needs only to get out there and mix it up! If you don't wish to be a part of the challenge, that's fine too. There's nothing you need to do to opt out either. You can start or stop at any time during the month, as well.

How do I participate?
Aside from getting out there and doing the actual RP, you will need to submit a minimum of 5 logs, each with a different character, to the logs list or logs LJ community (you may also use a private logs LJ or listing as long as you can provide us with the URL for each distinct log). However, only one log needs to be submitted for both characters in the scene if both of you are playing. Scenes with more than one other character may be counted towards the challenge, but may only count for one of the characters in your personal score (so if Bob is doing a scene with Jim and Stu, he can only count the log for Jim OR Stu); however, your characters must interact for a significant portion of the scene in order to use it for that character. Plot scenes and other scenes orchestrated by staff may not be used towards your count.

Once your logs are all in, you then should submit an @mail to Paradigm, filling out the following form:

-----
I've completed The Great RP Challenge! My five or more scenes are as follows:

1.
Title of Log:
IC Date of Log:
OOC Date of Log:
# or URL of Log:
Character:

2.
Etc.

------

Fill out the same set of information for each of your five+ scenes, being sure to follow the given format. The log number can be found by visiting the messages page of the logs list: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/xmr-logs/messages while you can provide the URL for any logs posted on the LJ community. We ask that you provide this to make our job quicker in verifying the log.

What do I get if I complete the challenge:
Characters completing TGRPC get ten tokens. Tokens may at a point in the future be used to win prizes and accolades OOCly. We will also be posting on the bboards, forums, LJ, and discussion list a list of all characters who manage to complete the challenge. For the person with the MOST scenes in by the end of the month, there is an additional ten tokens, for a total of twenty tokens for that lucky individual.

What if I have an alt?
You absolutely cannot use your alt in your own count. However, if you wish to participate as both characters, you are certainly free to. Each alt must have separate scenes submitted for them, as you should not be RPing in the same scene as yourself anyway. However, the characters used can of course overlap between the characters. Make certain too to submit the form above via @mail from each character participating and you will receive 5 tokens towards each character.

How long do I have to complete the challenge?
You have about a month. Only RP that happens in the month of March 2007 may be counted towards the RP challenge. Your scenes can be backdated or foredated, but the OOC date MUST be during this period. For our purposes, this contest will run from midnight EST on March 1st until 11:59 pm EST on March 31st.

All logs must be into the list by the 8th of April. This gives you a little over a week to edit and submit any outstanding logs, but we suggest you try to keep on top of logs and submit them throughout the month. And please remember that you cannot use logs from RP that takes place after the 31st. This window is just to provide time to edit outstanding logs, not to catch up on last minute RP.

The @mailed forms must be submitted to Paradigm by 11:59 pm EST on the 8th.

What if there simply aren't enough different people around when I can be online?
Speak with staff; we may be willing to make a concession and allow you to use NPCs or the same character more than once, provided you really do have a legitimate reason. Also, bear in mind the challenge is to RP with 5 different CHARACTERS. Alts of other players can be counted each individually.

Why 'take two'? Did you do something like this before?
In our last incarnation, we did a similar project. However, we've modified the rules this time to make it a little easier for people to successfully complete the challenge, while adding a competitive aspect: to get more scenes in than anyone else.

Any other rules?
All RP must be of an acceptable length, at staff's discretion. Fade-to-blacks and unfinished scenes may be used (though you're encouraged to attempt finishing the scene), provided a significant chunk of RP has been done.

You absolutely may not harass or attempt to guilt or strong arm other players into RP because you need them to complete the challenge. Any official complaints of this nature may see the participant disqualified. Please be polite and respect that others may not be participating or able to RP.

If you wish to use a scene for TGRPC but do not wish to share the contents of the log with the entire playerbase, you may request an exception via @mail to Paradigm. Please explain why you are uncomfortable sharing the log, the other participants, and a brief outline of what happened during the scene.

You should be sure to obtain approval from other scene participants before submitting any sensitive logs to the list. In this case, a sensitive log may contain information about a team or another character. If more is revealed about others than about yourself, it is a good idea to get permission. If you cannot obtain permission (either through lack of opportunity or lack of consent), you may use the above instructions to request an exception from staff.

New players and characters who are approved during the month are more than welcome to join in on TGRPC. However, please be aware that despite a late start, you still must finish your efforts by the end of the challenge period.

And most of all, please remember TGRPC is meant only for fun. If you get close but don't quite manage to complete it, well, you can submit anyway. Depending on the level of success, we may well publish a list of 'honourable mentions' and give out a token or two to those who made a good effort.

If you have any questions or find anything unclear, please feel free to get in contact with staff.
