Pietro

Pietro is a member of the Brotherhood.

Pietro (sans piercings and spikes)

Biography

  • Full Name: Pietro Vladimir Maximoff (Lehnsherr)
  • Age: 18
  • Codename: Quicksilver
  • Family: Son of Magneto, twin brother of Wanda

Most aren't aware that Pietro is Wanda's twin brother, nor that he is Magneto's son - he's not exactly chatty about his past. It's no real secret that he's foreign-born, however - his accent, a mixture of Eastern Europe with a slight coloring of 'New Yawk', betrays him as 'definitely not local'. Some might even know he's Romanian but probably not that he's of the Roma/Gypsy culture.

After arriving in America, he was placed in a home - /several/ homes - before being expelled from his latest high school and hitting the streets. Again, most aren't privvy to such information, though others might have seen his face in the alleyways of NYC's rougher boroughs.

After meeting up with Rogue, he gained free meals and a bed along with his membership in the Brotherhood; it wasn't until several weeks later that he discovered just who was heading up the organization... and the realization sent him into a brief tailspin. Having recovered and - mostly - come to terms with his familial ties to Magneto, he now loyally serves in the ranks of the Brotherhood's active combat.

Powers

Pietro doesn't just move fast, he /is/ fast. His metabolism and brain functions run at superhuman speeds, so it takes a certain amount of effort for him to refrain from 'speedspeaking' as well. Most of his movements are slightly accelerated even when he exercises control - even more so when he is tired, intoxicated or upset. Due to the muscle development that makes his physical speed possible, he has a modest degree of super strength, particularly in his lower body.

Event Involvement

Pietro has participated in quite a few events in his time on the grid. He was present when the Rockettes went berzerk at the Radio City Music Hall and helped to subdue the dancing girls. He recently participated in the rescue of Jacob Peterson and he actually got in touch with his inner hero at the zoo when he swooped in to save Saga and a small child from Sauron... and some ants and other nasty things.

Further elaboration coming soon! Yay for vagueness!

Storyline

Pietro entered the grid in a location and sort of scene that would foreshadow much about his personality. Right off the bat, he hit on Rogue upon running into her in a record store and nearly found himself in a serious fight with a vagrant.

Soon after, he found himself at the Radio City Music Hall for a Rockette Christmas Spectacular... that somehow went horribly awry. When the girls started kicking into the audience with bloody results, he was part of a contingency that fought back. Slipping out the back door with Scheherezade and Rogue before the local law enforcement arrived, he found himself faced with a new problem: Rogue seemed to resent the relationship that was developing between him and Scheherezade.

This proved a constant point of contention for months afterward. After Rogue brought the boy back to the Brotherhood HQ, things didn't lighten up between the two. If Rogue's jealousy fueled the conflict, Pietro did the same with his temper and apparent inability to understand why she might be so irritated by him. After a training session in which Rogue and Pietro lost to Marrow and Wanda, things slipped even further downhill, leading to blows in the second floor hallway just days later.

Though the pair often can't seem to stand each other's company, they also can't stay away. It wasn't long after their bruises healed that they finally admitted having feelings for each other and - after much angsty debate - started dating.

He played a pivotal role in the jailbreak of Jacob Peterson and spent many a night playing guard to the boy, keeping him safe from those who might attempt to drag him back to the unfair justice system that the Brotherhood rescued him from.

Recently Pietro mysteriously disappeared, returning well over a month later with little explanation; about all he has told anyone thus far is that he needed a break, went out of state, intending to only be gone for a few days and was held up when something went awry.

Not long after his return, Pietro found himself faced with conflict - both emotional and physical. Rogue unexpectedly revealed that she had given in to the temptation of being able to kiss Nikolai - an interesting result of the interaction of her draining power and his healing one. Unfortunately Nikolai's healing abilities were put into play when the speedster ran into him on the rooftop of the Brotherhood headquarters.

As Pietro was attempting to sort out his feelings on the subject, he was called on a mission along with Rogue, Fred, Aero, Ororo and Plain in which the team ran up against opposition from MCU officers Thorburn and Crosby.

In the end the Brotherhood was victorious... but Pietro still had to contend with his personal conflicts. Confronting Rogue after returning from the mission, he eventually told her he was willing to work through their problems - with the understanding that should another such incident occur, there would be no predicting how he would react. Since then the two have coexisted peacefully - even happily. As the holidays drew nigh, the season seemed to bode well for this record-breaking span of time without so much as a squabble - though, of course, nothing gold can stay. After all, gold has never been Quicksilver's colour.

Rogue and Pietro actually seem to be getting on well enough, having exchanged gifts - Pietro's to Rogue's being tickets to a country music concert, Rogue's to Pietro's being a much appreciated guitar - and have started spending time together in guitar lessons. Yes, aside from a few very awkward moments, the two seem to be spending progress - it's in another facet of his life that conflict has arisen.

In honour of the occasion of Pietro and Wanda's 18th birthdays, Magneto threw his children a birthday party which didn't exactly turn out as planned. For all his magnetic charisma, he was unable to fully sway their affections and was met - for the most part - with sarcasm and bitterness. After the party Pietro was extremely conflicted, particularly with the gift that Magneto gave him - a childhood toy as a reminder of his past. And nothing good can come from Pietro's internal conflict.

Shortly after the birthday party, Pietro and Rogue had yet another argument -- this time, however, it resulted in a very unexpected kiss and a transfer both of his powers and some of his memories. Needless to say, both were supremely freaked out but since a little time has now passed and the resulting wounds have closed a little, the pair seem to be a little more willing to be sincere with each other. That's not to say, of course, that their bickering has stopped.

Recently, however, trials of another nature have surfaced. While he's still trying to come to grips with the depths of his feelings for Rogue, a sea monster has surfaced and some very dangerous people seem to be looking for someone called The Light -- and the Brotherhood Headquarters has suffered a security breach. As of the present moment, he isn't sure if and how these events are connected, but he has committed himself to pitching in with solving each.

Friends and Enemies

Friends

  • Wanda - Sister, Teammate - Pietro is extremely protective of Wanda, owing in part to their shared past. (Be forewarned, all those who seek to hit on her. ;) ) However, she tends to bring out a softer side of the boy that very few have seen. **Talk of the sibling relationship is now floating about in the BH rumour mill so BHers might have caught wind that they're related. Please feel free to bring it up ICly. :) )
  • Rogue - Girlfriend, Teammate - These two have enjoyed a (sometimes painful) hot-and-cold relationship. Now that he has returned from... wherever he was for a month, he and Rogue seem resolved to make things work despite frequent squabbles. A side effect of their new closeness seems to be an increase in his (over)protectiveness toward her, something that seems to annoy Rogue to no end.
  • Marrow - Teammate - Pietro has a great deal of respect for Marrow. He first ran into her on the streets and the two worked out a deal in which he became her 'Speedy Delivery Service'. Despite their ties, however, she seems to have no problem knocking him back into line when he takes things too far.
  • Saga? - Friend
  • Zachary - Teammate - Pietro has a rather competitive relationship with Zach, though he's glad that Zombie seems to be treating Marrow well. If he doesn't... well, there probably wouldn't be anything left for Pietro to kill by that point anyway.
  • Ian - Teammate - Though he doesn't know Ian very well yet, Pietro thinks he's a good enough guy... if a little naive (which could make for entertainment at Ian's expense).
  • Riley - Although initially not very impressed by the PI when he ran into him upon rearrival in New York, Pietro was both struck by and skeptical of Riley's apparent desire to "even the playing field" for mutants.
  • Fred? - Teammate - A new find, Pietro was impressed by the big man's mutant powers.
  • Emma - Pietro ran into Emma after seeing her on the news and, after some talk, offered her a position in the Brotherhood. Though he's really trying to make things work with Rogue, he has an obvious and undeniable attraction to Emma. That flirting'll get him in trouble one of these days...
  • Magneto - Father, Leader of the Brotherhood - Pietro's relationship with his father is tenuous at best at the moment but nevertheless, there /is/ a blood tie and, despite his conflicted emotions, the youth agrees with the Brotherhood's philosophy whole-heartedly.
  • Nikki - Not exactly a /friend/ - yet - but the two certainly hit it off when they met in Steve's Music Shop over some guitar strings. And anyone who's willing to listen to him go on about the glories of punk rock is okay in his book.
  • Miriam? - Friend, Contact -- Pietro nicknamed her Fish Sticks after finding out about her mutation. She is currently feeding him information where she can and has offered him her boat to hide people on if things get sticky with the current goings on.
  • Attrition - Teammate - Pietro ran across this new recruit protesting in Central Park. The two seem to get along well enough.

Enemies

  • Simon? - It's a rather long story as to how these two became enemies... but it's all recorded in the log blog. :D
  • John - Enemy (by extension) - After all, he /did/ singe Rogue's hair.
  • MCU - Need I explain why?
     - Specifically, Thorburn and Crosby
  • Nikolai - At this point the Russian is a bitter enemy as far as Pietro is concerned - despite the calm and even sympathetic words Nikolai offered upon their first meeting.
  • Penny - Meeting this pro-MRA activist definitely brought out Pietro's bad side. Her first offense was being human. The second? Being so damned perky. ;) Oh yeah, and her views rubbed him the wrong way too.
  • Durante - Despite the fact that the two are technically on the same team, Pietro /really/ isn't fond of this new-ish recruit. He doesn't appreciate his cockiness nor the way he seems to lack respect for rank.

Wanted

More Brotherhood members! More humans - esp. mutant-haters! (Come on! Give me something to rail against! ;) )
