Biography

Ian and his mother were very close while he was growing up. She loved him unconditionally and did her best to protect her strange looking son. She was a young mother, having given birth when she was sixteen and a runaway. The two lived secretly, in shabby apartments and never with much money to spare, but they were the best of friends. Ian stayed inside and out of sight of anyone that might not accept him and so his upbringing was very sheltered, despite living in the middle of New York city.

One night when the pair were out, they were attacked by members of a local gang and Ian's mother was stabbed while trying to defend him. Ian took her to the hospital, but his appearance had caused such a rockus that by the time the doctors actually got to his mother, it was too late to save her. Immediately after, Ian had no choice but to take to the streets.

Powers

Physical Mutantion: His ears are large and rounded, with a layer of folds that work with his power of echolocation; His arms are quite elongated, reaching down to the length of his calves if he were to stand upright. His fingers take up much of that length, being long and thin. This length is necessary to provide the wingspan he needs in order to fly. Like a bats wing, Ians arms have a thin membrane of skin extending between the hand and the body, and between each finger bone. The membrane connects to his body along each thigh. Unlike a bat, his fingers actually extend partially beyond the wing, in order to create functioning fingers, however the fingers are pointed, ending in claws that do make it difficult to maneuver small or intricate objects such as a pencil, or utensil. The "thumb" extends out of the wing as a small claw, sharper than his finger claws, which he can use to climb up trees and other structures. He can still use it as an opposable thumb to pick up objects; His feet are elongated and clawed, also in order to help him climb. He rarely walks upright, instead, he crawls using his long arms to aide in this form of walking, making his natural gait more of a hobble or hop than a typical human walking stride; Lastly, his teeth, particularly the canines, are pointed and sharp.

In addition to that, he has highly sensative hearing, and uses bat-like Echolocation.

Storyline

Ian had been living on the streets for a few months when he met Marrow. As a fellow mutant with an obvious physical mutation, he trusted her and joined up with the Brotherhood. He enjoys those he's met and the freedom he has around the HQ, but still he doesn't get outside those walls too much, esspeically now with the growing anti-mutant sentiment in the public.

After seeing butterfly on tv, Ian developed a huge crush on the star and risked his safety to go to her appearance in Times Square. There he was involved in a riot. (( Rise Of The Butterfly )) He freed Shelby from Sauron's grasp but was arrested during the riot. Before he was taken to prison, he was freed by Sauron and managed to get back to the Brotherhood HQ.

During the next of the Butterfly's public appearances, Ian implored Zachary to go along with him to see the girl again. They disguised Ian by keeping him in a wheelchair, covered by a blanket. This disguise ended up getting them a backstage pass to meet Shelby. Ian was enamored when he told her who he was and she thanked him and gave him a token of friendship, one of her butterfly shaped barretts.

Soon the event fell to pieces as Dr. Karl Lykos made a speech on behalf of the Friends of Humantiy. Ian and Zach were quick to try and get away, until Shelby attemtpted to help another mutant being manhandled by the MCU (( TheMutantCrimesUnit ))and was shot with an electrified net, which caused her wings to catch fire. Ian, seeing this, flew to her aid, although it was too late to help. He and Zachary took her to a local hospital, but not before one of the MCU took a shot at Ian which hit him in his hand.

The event shook Ian very hard. He fears losing another woman he cares about.

Personality

Ian is a nice guy. He has a lot of compassion for others, although he does carry a bitterness toward the human race since thier fear and intolerance cost him his mother. He loves the underdogs and he is quite passionate. He loves to talk. After being cooped up most of his life, now he just adores spending time with others. Once he knows someone isn't going to hurt him, he's pretty much an open book, willing to chat about anything. He loves books and stories of any kind, reciting poetry and gardening.
