Jill is a member of Xavier's School.
Biography
- Full Name: Jillian Valentine Pervinca
- Birthday: Feb 25 1995 (Age 16)
- Place of Birth: Seattle, Washington
- Family:
- Katrina Pervinca (mother, deceased)
- Robert Pervinca (father, deceased)
- Nancy Lambert (mother, adoptive)
Jill is the only child of Katrina and Robert Pervinca, who were sadly killed in a car accident in the fall of 2001 when Jill was only six years old. Having few blood relatives, she was shuffled into foster care until legally adopted by her great-aunt, Nancy Lambert ("Nana"), and moved from Seattle to Berkeley, California.
Her life before the onset of her mutation was unremarkable, barring frequent but minor injuries caused as much by bad luck as her wandering attention span.
In the spring of her freshman year of high school, Jill was frequently plagued with flu-like symptoms, a precursor to the general onset of her mutation. During her fourth period gym class, she fell ill and collapsed into a pool of translucent blue slime. The gym was evacuated and only a fully suited Hazmat team were allowed inside to find the substance alive and able to talk.
Powers

A cell image
Made of trillions of homogenous cells, Jill largely behaves as a non-Newtonian fluid, being both liquid and solid under the right conditions. She generally appears like a figure molded of translucent bright blue Jello. She tries to keep as near-human an appearance as she can. Her features are cute and she maintains purely decorative "hair" made from the same stuff as the rest of her. Her face and head are usually the most opaque section of her body, but even then light can still shine through from behind. She chooses to wear clothes even though underneath them she is sexless, like a mannequin, and could probably get away with it. The thought makes her embarrassed.
Prolonged contact with a digestible material (say, eating a french fry or wearing leather sandals) triggers the release of digestive enzymes and acids. As Jill has no differentiated organs, she can do this with any part of her body. Clothing and normal objects aren't nutritious or interesting enough to digest, but holding hands with someone for more than an hour could give them first degree acid burns or worse depending on how hungry she is. She doesn't need to eat often, a single normal meal every few days.
Her mass remains more or less constant. She can't compress much smaller than her normal volume (50 liters, or 13 gallons), nor can she expand much beyond taking a deep breath at the cost of lower density. Jill can control her shape mentally, to the point of being able to melt, stretch, and reform individual limbs. As a fluid, she travels under her own power as fast as she can on two legs and is able to flow through, around, or under objects as well as up them.
Jill's density in a human form is comparable to someone with actual skin and muscles. In a fluid state, the material flows much more easily and quickly but tends to be drippier. If part of her gets separated from the rest, she can no longer consciously control it, but it does not die. Under its own power it will instinctively (to a point) flow along the shortest route to rejoin her, remaining alive for a period of time proportionate to its volume. After this time, it will die and Jill will have to wait for the mass to grow back.
Events
- The Light: Jill was present at the masquerade ball. Aziza dropped a mysterious tape recorder, but Jill pressed it into Penny's hands before she could listen to it. [1]
- Field Days 2011: Jill participated in the scavenger hunt at the Xavier's School for her squad, the Deviants, and helped them to win first prize.
The Story So Far
Jill came to the Xavier's School in June of 2010, staying there for the summer to get acclimated before classes began in the fall. In general, she kept her head down and avoided trouble during the awkward phase of adjusting to her mutation, but in the meantime she's made progress in coming to terms with her altered body and the degree of control she has over it.
Friends
- Wesley is one of the first people Jill met at the school. He remained close to her throughout her troubling first year, as a confidant and a mentor. He frequently urges Jill to explore the limits of her mutation.
- Felix? often runs into Jill hanging around the school grounds. His colorblindness makes it difficult for him to see Jill clearly. Jill isn't sure about him, because lions scare her.
- Rahne is in Jill's year at the school. After an early connection, they remain casual friends despite being on competing squads.
- Barbara is also in Jill's year. She, like Wesley, finds Jill's mutation interesting.
- Nikki is the Monitor for Jill's squad. Jill looks up to Nikki as a figure of authority and someone 'cool' to aspire to be.
- Ralph is a member of the Deviants. While the two seem to have a habit of stepping on each other's toes, Jill tries not to hold anything against him. For very long.
- Caitlin is one of Jill's few acquaintances outside the walls of the Xavier's School. Jill looks forward to running into her again, but New York is a very big city.
Wanted
Friends! She is even naive enough to be friends with villains if they aren't overtly nasty. Jill makes friends a lot more easily than she makes enemies, but those are welcome too!
