Background

Leo was the kind of kid mothers adored, fathers were wary and daughters fought over. A charming face and sweet words got him out of all kinds of trouble and he grew up with a sense of untouchability. That's not to say he was a bad guy or broke rules arbitrarily, because in most cases, he was a well behaved young man who just had enough 'bad boy' in him to make him all the more appealing. He always had a group of girls as his friends, rode the coolest bike and was the kid who stole smokes from his parents so his friends and him could light up under the bleachers.

The first years of school high school continued much the same. He was cool. He dated a new girl every week. And then, in his junior year, everything changed when he met Sydney. She was beautiful, charming with an innocent face and bad girl rep. She was his equal in every way, so he thought. The two became a couple and within weeks they were rated as the number one couple in school. They were there epitome of popular and before everyone's eyes they both grew to know what love was.

Leo's crowd of girls diminished, not that he minded since he had Sydney. But his love had a secret. She had recently before their relationship started, realized that she was a mutant and that her powers centered around the telepathic ability to alter others thoughts. They stayed together throughout high school and in their senior year, Sydney had decided that what she wanted out of life was a family, but Leo was not yet ready to commit, at least, not without a little mental push. Sydney used her gift to manipulate Leo into getting her pregnant and with the news of the baby on the way, Leo stepped up to do the right thing and married her. He was nervous and put off by the idea of being a father, all until the day his son, Ethan was born. Seeing the child, all of his reservations melted away...he fell in love with the boy.

To provide for his new family, Leo worked at casino in their home town of Atlantic City, NJ and was in training to be a police officer. He had his family, his friends and even though he has to live a life that was more straight and narrow than what he had known, he was happy, for a while. Then a secret came out that crashed everything.

Friends of Sydney's began to frequent the house and these friends seemed to dislike Leo for a reason he couldn't figure out. The more she hung out with them, the more bitter Sydney became too. Eventually, after having a big fight over Sydney's apparent change in personality, she admitted to her husband that she was a mutant and the nature of her power. And, upon being pressed by Leo, she admitted also to using her powers on him. Feeling betrayed, Leo said some things that, looking back on, he would regret later, but he was angry at the time.

He left for a few days to clear his head. In the end, he had decided to give his marriage a chance. He loved his family life, his son and didn't want it to end. However, when he returned to tell Sydney this, she dismissed him, and had already thrown herself into a new relationship. The two fought bitterly and she was quick to serve Leo with divorce papers. Most of all they fought over Ethan. Sydney, claiming that she knew her son would be a mutant, wanted her with him and to have no ties to Leo. Mutant or not, Leo knew he could never live without his son in his life, so he fought her. She tried to use her power to convince Leo to leave, but much to her surprise and anger, she found a limit to her abilities that if someone's will was strong enough, she couldn't change it. So instead she worked her powers on the court system, convincing them that Leo was an unfit father. This hurt Leo more than he could have imagined. In addition to this, Sydney made her mutant friends believe that Leo had a vicious anti-mutant agenda and when he came to the house, they attacked him.

Unable to bare his life without his son and everything quickly going to shambles, Leo took Ethan and ran. Now he lives in hiding and on the run, always just one step ahead of the ex-wife that hunts him down. He's made aliases for himself to live under and gone through varies cities. Now he's in New York as Leo Carson, and tends bar, doing the best to keep himself under the radar.

Sally: Leo's met this lovely college student a few times now and the two have formed a fledgling friendship.

Rumors

Sydney has cried mistreatment to everyone she can sell it to, both mutant and human. She claims that Leo was mentally abusive and had endangered thier son's welfare on a number of occassions and now he's kidnapped the boy to punish her. She plays the hurt wife well and when she can't manipulate with just her words she will use her powers to help edge things along.

In addition to that, Sydney has told her mutant friends that Leo is anti-mutant and dangerous so that they will help to hunt him down. Word of this can easily have spread...

Leo has an arrest warrant out from NJ for kidnapping and Child Endangerment.
