Powers

Morgan is an elemental capable of mentally sensing and manipulating the molecules in the atmosphere around him in order to cause the warmer air and water molecules around him to condense and the colder air and water molecules to expand, causing a diminutive drop (or rise) in temperature, a significant increase in humidity, and most importantly, incredibly dense cloud and fog.

Storyline

When Morgan first manifested, he didnt leave his room for the better part of a week. Blinded by fog, confused and fearful, he managed to remain recluse from his friends and even family. It was during this time-period that one of his older brothers, Michael, passed away. His family took this very hard, as did the tightly-knit community that surrounded them. No one questioned Morgan's temporary disappearance.

Morgan, along with his father and two brothers, was involved in a sailboat collision that took the life of his brother. His fathers boat was caught in the middle of two motor boats after an abrupt shift in weather patterns. The heavy fog that fell over the debris, caused by Morgan's abilities, contributed to Micheal's drowning before coast guard could intervene. Everyone else in the Morning family survived with minimal injury. The youngest of four, it wasn't rare for him to be overlooked at least some of the time, especially being a generally easy-going and level-headed individual. He rarely required much attention in the way of guidance or discipline. It was only when he failed to show for his brothers memorial services that a worried eye turned to him. This one, in the form of his mother.

For six days, Morgan did little more than sleep. His dinner had been left for him outside of his bedroom door and his bedroom connected to the hallway bathroom by way of a separate door, as did his other brothers bedroom. He adapted to feeling his way through the fog before learning to turn on the ceiling fan to dissipate it slightly in order to see. Already in pain over his brother's death, he reacted badly to his new found powers. For the first few days, he just remained in bed in denial. He half-expected to wake up and be able to see clearly again and, perhaps, not to find his family one member short. That passed into frustration as he began moving around, bumping into and breaking things as he fumbled for both a literal and figurative foothold.

When his mother finally did weasel her way into an audience with Morgan after everyone else had returned to school and work but him, he was no farther on his way to accepting or dealing with his mutation. Mrs. Morning was a good, God-fearing woman. She and Morgan's father married in their early twenties after meeting in college and she had opted to remain a homemaker after the birth of their first child. She insisted that it had been her choice, but no one who knew the Mornings would believe that for very long. Where Grace Morning was soft and sweet, Mike Morning, her husband and Morgans father, was narrow-minded and chauvinistic. He was the kind of man you'd expect to have a homemaker for a wife and he wasn't the kind of man you'd expect to have a mutant for a son. Though entirely loyal and subservient to her husband in most aspects, Morgans mother deceived him when it came to their youngest sons disorder. Mr. Morning had already found himself very distraught over his oldest sons death, Michael having been his fathers pride & joy. The insinuation that Morgan might be clinically depressed, or worse, over the situation was enough to keep the grieving father away, even given his personality type. Morgan's two remaining siblings were more difficult to trick, and found out soon enough what was really going on. Morgan's older brother, William, rejected the idea of mutation, but didn't go as far as to out him to their father, while their sister sympathized with the boy and did her best to offer aid by distracted and diverting the inquiries made by Morgans friends.

Morgan's late older brother had been something of a local celebrity, at least as far as high school athletics and a moderate talent could take him. A senior, he had been looking into several perspective scholarship offers at the time of his death. William and Morgan, a junior and a sophomore, were both involved in school athletics as well. Their father was the type to praise them for exerting their superiority and masculinity in that way. Specifically, Morgan was on the baseball team, though he was never, nor was he ever expected to be, any sort of baseball prodigy. It made the idea of a partial sports scholarship to a school like Xavier's, at the very least, plausible so long as you didn't look too closely. A man like Mr. Morning would see only really what he wanted to see. The transition was made easier by temporarily concealing Morgans obvious mutation for the good-byes. There were hard feelings when he left, no doubt, though most of Morgans friends were purely circumstantial as a lot of high school friends tend to be. Unfortunately, Morgan couldn't be convinced to build up the heart to explain things publicly to everyone he'd be leaving behind.
