Biography

 * Full Name: Patience Katherine O'Malley
 * Age: 20
 * Codename: None
 * Family:

Richard O'Malley
(Father, Age: 45, Location: Huellet, WI)

Samantha O'Malley
(Mother, Age 41, Location: Huellet, WI)

An alcoholic father and an overly zealous mother. Great way to start life huh? Well that's the hand I was dealt. As if that wasn't enough to put a kid in counseling for years to come whatever power is that is out there had the wacky sense of humor to give that kid a mutant gene to top it all off. Great huh?

How Mom and Dad met, let alone ended up hitched is a mystery to me. They were like night and day. She was all uppity and waggling her Bible around and he was always drunk and smacking people around. Usually me. Sometimes Mom too.

We weren't the wealthy people in our little town near Huellet, Wisconsin. Heck you could even say I come from the wrong side of the tracks. Course when you're dad can't keep a job and your mom is the Cashier at the Piggly Wiggly that's not all that suprising. Of course this lead to teasing at school from the other kids who wore the best clothes and all the name brands. Forget about little sleepovers and Birthday parties. No way I'd have had those. Not even if the parentals had let me. Like I'd want people coming to ye olde shack and having more ammo to make fun of you with. Elementary school kids can be brutal.

It wasn't until puberty that things got real interesting and for more reasons than the usual ones. I first started noticing there was something that was a little different about me when I was at the mall. No I wasn't one of those girl lucky enough to be there shopping or on a date or even catching a movie. I was people watching. The cheapest form of entertainment when you can't manage to sneak into a movie after all.

I had a couple bucks I'd found along the train tracks but not enough to buy eats. I figured I'd try to charm the pimply faced boy who looked like he was a member of the pocket protector crowd into looking past the fact that it wasn't enough to cover the food I ordered at the Happy Burger there in the mall. At least long enough for me to get the heck out of Dodge before Mall security showed up.

Imagine my suprise when the kid started running after me and shouting after I slipped the two bills in his hand and grabbed the food and walked away quickly. It wasn't until I heard what he was shouting that I stopped running. He was trying to give me change. Change?!? He said I'd handed him a twenty and shoved the change in my hands grinning from ear to ear. I think he thought I was interested in him or something. I thanked him and took off without a word.

That night I tried to figure out what happened. I realized that I had been concentrating so hard on getting him to see what I wanted him too that it worked like some kind of hypnosis or something. So I set out to investigate this little theory of mine.

Now I was never a bad student exactly but I never really put a lot of effort into my school work either. I suppose I could have been one of those honors students but that was never my thing ya know? So I decided to try and convince the teacher that I'd handed in my paper in class the next day. No big if it didn't work. So I stapled a few pages together that were blank and when the time came the next day I handed it to her. She took it with no complaints. It wasn't until a few days later when she approached me and admitted she had lost it somehow. I managed to get an A by default.

Everything was peachy keen till my 16th birthday. Dad was on another bender. Mom was being her normal passive self trying to appease him with dinner on the table and the house all neat and tidy and all that garbage. You know, all that "the man is the head of the household and a woman should know her place" crap that she always spouted.

He had started in on me. Stupid stuff, my hair looked terrible. Didn't I have any kind of self respect? I was a disgrace to the family. All the usual stuff. And did Mom try to say anything in my defense? Of course not. But then again that was par for the course. She was like a frickin Steppford wife or something minus the money and clothes and blonde bimbo hair.

It was when he hit me that something in me just snapped. I don't know why, I mean, it wasn't the first time the old man had hit me. I guess I'd just let it build for too long. I hit him back and then he started wailin' on me. We ended up in a big tussle in the living room, knocking over the coffee table and even managed to knock the TV off it's stand and send it crashing to the floor. I was just so filled with rage that I couldn't see straight. In my mind's eye I could see him just engulfed in flames and burning alive. It wasn't something I intentionally did, I mean I just thought it. You don't exactly think straight when you're like that.

He started screaming in fear, at least I figured it was fear later, at the time I didn't know what was going on. All I knew was that he'd stopped hitting me and was slapping himself all over as if to put out the flames I'd seen in my mind's eye. My mother rushed to his side and tried to help. It was the last straw. I ran to my room, threw a few things in an old army rucksack I had and went out the window.

I hitched a ride in a boxcar headed east. I didn't know where I was going or what was gonna happen to me but I figured anywhere was better than here. Somewhere along the way I managed to fall asleep. When I woke up I was in Pittsburg. I was scared as heck that my folks had called the police so I decided it would be best to get away from the railways altogether. I found the nearest truck stop and hitched a ride with a tanker truck headed north to New Jersey.

That's where I called home for the last three years. Of course 'home' is a relative term really. One night home could be a park bench. Another it could be a cardboard box in a back alley or a couch offered by one of the working gals down on 5th and Vine. Course I never accepted the offer more than once a week from them if that much. They always tried to talk me into getting into the business. Not my thing.

I survived by basically learning how to rummage through trash, eventually learning to pick pocket, and sheer determination. The first two years were tough cause I had to avoid the cops at all costs. If my folks had reported me missing, which granted was highly unlikely unless it was just to beat me senseless for leaving, they'd run my name and it'd be back off to Wisconsin for me. Not my idea of a good time.

Things weren't always easy and I didn't always manage to slip through the long arm of the law. I've been detained a few times. Never given my real name though. Sometimes in Juvi detention holding areas. Sometimes in the adult lock-up. But I managed to get away once I got my strenght up. Amazing what three hots and a cot can do to revitalize a body. Wasn't always easy. Had some rough scrapes there. One guard in the Juvi got a little too friendly. Nothing I could do at the time but I did manage to get away eventually. Part of Life I guess. It wasn't like it was the first time it had happened.

I found a guy that made IDs for 50 bucks and once I had the cash scraped up for it got one. Of course that only helped so far. If you run a fake ID then nothing comes back which I guess is better than getting busted as a runaway. I had to learn that one the hard way. Luckily I was in better shape than the 50 year old cop that had apparently had one donut too many.

It wasn't easy living on the streets and my gift wasn't as reliable as I was counting on. It would come and go. Like if I was physically exhausted it didn't seem to work. Or if I was stressed too badly it would be totally unpredictable. I had to learn to defend myself out there and after quite a few good beatings I took I managed to pick up a few tricks that saved my butt. Dirty tricks but hey whatever it takes to live through it right? That's a lesson I learned long ago from the parentals. Or rather from living with them.

The pick pocketing was where my gift came in most handy. A quick illusion to distract a person and an accidental bump into them or a pretend fall and thier wallets were mine. Not the easiest life but hey, it's way better than living at home.

Now I'm in New York. Moving on to new scenery and all. I hear that there's other people like me here. A lot of them. People with unexplained gifts and powers. Maybe I can learn more about what I am from them. I always hated the term mutant or mutie. I din't consider myself one. To me mutants were like three headed goats and people with like gills and scales for skin you know? But I've met a few people and I've come to realize that being a mutant isn't what I'd thought. I really didn't like accepting this fact. At ALL. But I guess that's what you'd call me.

Powers

Pat is what they call a Telepath. But for her it doesn't quite work in the same sense that one might think of it being. Most telepaths hear other minds and thoughts, Cane send thoughts and messages into other people's minds as well. For Pat though It's basically a one way street. She can broadcast thoughts into other's minds to create illusions that are quite realistic. Which, comes in handy on the streets. Helps escape bad situations, get money through pick pocketing, scare off attackers, and obscure her from other's minds so that she can pass invisibly.

In time perhaps she will develope her powers and be able to expand on what she can do. It is only recently that she has accepted that that she is a mutant. A lot of her ability was held back by this denial. At this point her potential is limitless. She doesn't know the boundaries of it. Doesn't know what it's called or what to make of it. Her control over it isn't perfect. It has drawbacks and physical side effects that hamper her. It is contingent to her mental and physical states as well, making it unpredictable and unreliable.

Storyline in Progress..

Pat's first IC encounter on the game was with Wanda who went by the name Ana on a cold March night in 2009. "Ana" was delivering a package and Pat was sleeping by a dumpster, hoping to get some food after the resturant closed down. Few words were exchanged but the two managed to have a neutral if not quasi-friendly meeting that would later lead to more.

A few days later she ran into a certain Cajun that busted her when she was trying to pickpocket. Remy? didn't bust her chops about it though and even gave her a few bucks to get something to eat as well as some words of advice. It was an encounter that left the normally unshakable Pat disturbed as he was her first known mutant encounter. He suspected that she was a mutant as well but her denial of it and insistance of just being a hypnotist was admiantly proclaimed.

The next night she ran into the girl that she was to come to nickname 'The Mime Chick'. At a club Pat ran into Caitlin and though there was some difficulties communicating (Pat thinking that Caitlin was having a seizure when she tried to use ASL) they managed to get along. It's the silent girl's ability to get along with such a disability that intruiges Pat and she asks Caitlin to teach her a little of the ASL. Caitlin turns out to be the first person that Pat might consider a friend, as loosely as the term is applied in Pat's mind, in New York.

Another friend was around the corner though. In the record store she ran into a young goth boy by the name of Pietro, whom she quickly nicknamed "Spike" due to his accessories but it morphed to "Count Spike" and finally "Count P". After a little show attitude with the snarky clerk in the shop, a little distraction and shoplifting takes place. The two share smokes and conversation. The kid is cute and in a way, Pat finds herself feeling fond of him, like a little brother she never had.

Life would soon lead her into the path of yet another forgeiner. Running from the cops, Pat mowed down then used Tom? (of Black Tom fame) as a distraction to get away after getting caught trying to pick pocket a guy's wallet. The Irishman took pity on the girl and bought her dinner. To this day he's the only one that knows her real name, God given name, is Patience. Something she hates.

July of 2009 found Pat at a street fair where she crossed paths with Wanda again. She runs into Tessa? who is being followed by Creed? and gets herself on the feral mutant's radar. A closer friendship forms between the 'Delivery Girl' and Pat as they hang out on the street fair and Pat managed to get a nice haul from lifting Tessa's wallet.

A week later she meets up with Caitlin again and they have a conversation that makes Pat angry and defensive. Caitlin brings up the things she's noticed about Pat and hints at suspecting that Pat is a mutant. Something that Pat herself was just not ready at all to think about let alone admitt.

Perhaps it was this sense of discontent and fear that lead her to making a risky decision when she met up with Creed? again. After a bit of posturing between the two, a pool game was played with the stakes basically being winner take all. Pat discovered a little something about herself as she found herself attracted to the feral mutant. The two left the bar together and thus began a strange relationship between the two.

Soon after this she met up with a lost and confused Longshot? in Central Park. She took pity on what she thought was the obviously mentally challenged guy and let him stay with her that night instead of being left out in the open for the night and all the dangers Central Park at night bring. She broke into an unused and vacant tower of Belvedere Castle and in that tower some of her past was releaved to the mutant boy. He sees her abuse and her final retaliation on her father. It's one of the first times she lets her guard down and appears the small and vunerable person she is. She confesses to him what happened that night, knowing that noone would believe the crazy boy anyway.

At the end of July Pat found herself having to face Creed? again and feeling the embarassment of a little PDA, raising the eyebrows of Caitlin who happened to be in the diner at the time with Samantha?. For all she had thought Creed? would be a one night stand but when faced with a reunion, she's not sure how to react, showing her lack of age and experience with such relationships. Who would have ever thought that there was a softer side of Creed?!? Caitlin again offers to find work for Pat helping paint at the Dream House.

But he was not to be the only feral mutant to catch the Street Rat's eye. In the early days of August 2009 Pat encountered Logan? in Chinatown. The two ended up thrown together by fate as he was able to get her out of a tight situation and she was able to help him find a place to stay at a reasonable price, haggeling with the land lady in his stead. The two had dinner and after some conversation ended up spending the night together. Again something in the powerful and feral nature of this man found attractive to her as it was when she met Creed?.

When going to try to talk to Mercedes about the job that Caitlin mentioned, Pat runs into Aero and quickly dubs him "Chicken Little" from his penchant for looking up at the sky. A bit of small talk was exchanged and she decided not to hang around to wait for the Mercedes to leave the building. She is fickle that way. The job sounds promising but she decided it wasn't exactly for her.

A week or so later found Pat in Central Park encountering two fears. Saga? and her snakey friends were the ones to inadvertantly bust Pat when the Street Rat freaks out over he snakes on the girl and instinctively tries to throw the illusion of being invisible into Saga's mind. Not a thing done on purpose but more of a reflexive instinct. Saga? calls her out on it. Being like the Alley Cat she is, yet another person offers to feed Pat as Saga offers to share her food with her. Not a good time at all for Pat.

After having been beat up a few times in the past months as she felt her way in the new territory of New York and the subsequent calling out received from Saga? Pat had found an abandoned warehouse to sleep in during the hot hours of the day. Unfortunately that particular location was scouted out by some underground criminal types to be used in illegal cage fights. Her sleep was interrupted when the bosses, their henchmen, and Logan? enter and begin talking. She almost escaped notice but was caught and held. Logan? did his best to protect her without calling too much attention to her and she was forced to stay and watch the fights. A face from her past showed up in the fights as well, the guard that had abused her in Juvi. As she watched him she was suprised to find herself concerned about his well being as well as extremely turned on. It was after the fights , after thier rushed mating that her powers kicked in again, triggered by the floating feeling she was left with and she disappeared right before Logan?'s eyes. It was this incident that began thier dialouge as Logan? first discovers that Pat is a mutant. He was the one to point out that not all mutants were the deformed ones that were commonly heard about on the streets and sensationalized in the news reports. He also was the first person to tell her that no matter what she was, he would accept her, something that thrilled and scared her at the same time. The two went thier seperate ways.

A few days later fate led her to once more encounter the enigmatic Logan?. When trying to catch some Zzzz's in the luxury of an air conditioned Port Authority plastic seat some strange things began happening. At first it was just the normal insanity of a bizzare ukelelie player and a manic street preacher bickering back and forth before some cracked out flower child came along. Then things got real strange. Logan had spotted Pat there but as he made his way to her he also spotted the trouble about to break out among the Wierd Trio as well. Grabbing Pat and trying to get her out of there he inadvertantly put her in the line of fire and a bottle to the head later she was out for the count.

In her unconscious state she missed the fact that Logan was sent flying through a giant window and thus was not there when she came to. She witnessed the chaos of the FrankenWeenie that was part of the Shadowplay? TP and hightailed it out of the place as the sounds of sirens drew closer. She was miffed to say the least that this guy she'd started liking proved, in her mind, just to be another like all the rest. When the goin' got tough, he got goin'.

It was in her mad dash from the Port Authority that she quite literally ran into Gwen. The Brit did like many of the other people that she had ran into felt the need to take care of the Street Rat. For some reason Gwen offered to give Pat a place to stay, which of course the abrasive girl took offense to and bristled but she did accept Gwen's card and the food she bought her and beer as well as some money. The card turned out to be the most important thing that she would get from the Brit that day.

Not long passed before Pat went to Chinatown to try to find Logan? either coming or going from/to his apartment. While standing looking in the window of the pet shop across the street she runs into a naive farmboy that she quickly nicknames Bambi. Once again someone else wanting to take care of her, trying to get her a place to live at the Dream House?. His innocence amused her at first but being in an already crappy mood wasn't on his side as she quickly became irritated with him.

Giving up on Logan? Pat wandered over to Central Park and ran into Caitlin. In her conversation with the Mime about tattoos Pat decided that she wanted one for herself. Unbeknownst to them though Simon? was nearby when the topic turned to the wierdness of the Port Authority and the possessed hotdogs. He made himself known and once more managed to irritate Pat further.

August 22nd, 2009 saw Pat's 20th birthday come and the girl, though not sharing this info with anyone else, made plans that day for something special. With the money she still had from pick pocketing the mobsters at the fights she made plans with Caitlin to go get that tattoo in the morning. She had stolen a picture out of a book she found in the library that showed a Celtic Warrior Queen with the tattoo on her chest. Pat however chose to have it put on the small of her back with the wings on her hips. The two made plans tp meet up later that night but Pat was never to keep those plans.

At lunchtime she stopped into a McDonald's and ran into yet another forgiener named Kurt whom she extolled the virtues of the Chicken McNugget. Once more she ran into Simon? like a bad penny that keeps turning up. She didn't dislike the kid but there's only so much optimism and cheerfulness the jaded Street Rat could handle.

That evening she headed out to the Bronx Zoo. She had planned on a simple day looking at the animals but it turned out to be a very important and pivotal moment in her life. Before the show began in the ampitheater all hell broke loose. A Bengal Tiger was running loose through the zoo and the animals began going crazy. Once more Pat was to run into Simon? that day as he tried to protect her again, revealing his mutation. She recoiled from him out of instinct as the silvery stuff he emitting began creeping over her and told him to stop. Typically she would simply look out for number one and make a run for it, however there were several groups of children there and that hit her weak spot. Using her powers and failing a bit she finally just took a tranq rifle from one of the petrified zoo guards and raced to top of the ampitheater into the path of the Tiger that was advancing on a guard.

Of course when she arrived she saw not the tiger but a huge talking and flying lizard facing off with a Grizzly bear who was actually Adam though she didn't know. Calculating the odds she decided to try to take out the greatest threat and aimed for Sauron who had already killed one security person, drawing his attention. ..........

Wanted

I want to see Pat more involved on the fringes of what is happening with the Mutant/Human struggle. Not a member of a team she can be quite the wildcard. Essentially she is a good person but her views on right and wrong are somewhat skewed by her own life experiences and the evils she has seen in the world. She has something of a Robin Hood complex psychologically. She has no problem stealing but wouldn't steal from someone that needed it more than she did. She has no problems breaking some laws but wouldn't be a cold blooded killer. She drinks, partakes of less intense illegal drugs, and basically snubs her nose at any authority. But if push comes to shove she'd stand up for those weaker than her if she can get past the urge to save her own butt. Kids are something of a weakness for her. She would be more willing to help out a kid than she would anyone else.

She's a neutral character that can easily go either way in the fight between right and wrong. Good and Evil. It would be fun to see some mutants being kidnapped by either private organizations or government organizations to be used in studies of the growing mutant threat. It would be interesting to see Pat become something of a underworld style contact used to steal things from places that others might have trouble getting into.

Eventually I want to see her grow and expand as a person as well as her powers.

OOC Info

As the character Pat has a pretty hard outer shell. She doesn't trust folks easily and typically looks out for number one. She isn't heartless but it's gonna take a bit to get through to her. Now her player, c'est moi, is very easy to get along with so please feel free to hit me up with anything.

The only rules I have are no power gaming, no twinkiness. Aside from that anything goes. I do believe ICA=ICC and will adhere to that.

I often log and have no objections to any scene I am in being logged or posted. If you do please let me know in advance. I do not mind graphic scenes or more mature scenes. Heck I don't mind most anything. You get bored, hit me up for some RP and I'll be willing.

And as a reminder more to myself than anything..Pat's birthday is August 22nd, 1989 per game time (ie: the current year being 2009). She was born on the Leo/Virgo cusp and thus has traits from both signs. An interesting mix.
