While Scotland is certainly a very real place, Muir Island is entirely fictional. It is taken from the comics where it was home to the spin-off team, Excalibur.

Muir Island is the home of Moira MacTaggert. Located off the Scottish coast, it is home to an impressive research laboratory specializing in genetic research. It was the temporary home of Rahne Sinclair.
