  • In the sandbox, I've put up a test version of a character list that won't look like a badly designed blog. Before I put it on the fo'real character list, I'm polling my fellow wiki addicts: alphabetical splits to minimize effort, or periodic maintenance for better column balance? Let me know what you think here or the sandbox. -Nikki V.
  • I'm trying to redirect from WingedMan to Warehouse and it's not working. -Nikki :(
    • I think I got it working through trial and error. :/ Closed the brackets and changed the page link. -- Jean
      • Need it be said? You are awesome! -N
  • Do you think it would be appropriate to add characters as examples to the Powers sections? (e.g. Marrow can be put under PhysicalMutations?) Or would people prefer to keep that out of there? ~ Nexus
    • I like that idea. Maybe we could even split up "XMR examples" and "canon examples" so that people won't be bewildered by any OC names that pop up. -Nikki
  • How do we define an "interactive" power?
    • I know it's perhaps not the best term, but I was intending it for those powers that work by interacting by other objects, elements, or people, instead of working strictly within the wielder's own body or mind. Not necessarily powers that CAN interact with others, but ones that rely on needing another entity present in order to work (eg. elementals can't do anything if they don't have an element to work with). If someone can think of a clearer term for it, please feel free to change it. :) - P
      • OK, this may not work, but experimentally I've renamed it "Manipulation Powers" and created a new category called "Projection Powers." Then I moved teleportation into projection, because of the two new categories, it seemed to fit that one better.
  • This is more of a request for feedback than anything, but I figured this would be the best place to put it. In the theme section, I instinctively want pages both for events and the major players in those events. For example, I would see a difference between a link for "shadow monsters" and a link for "shadowplay" -- as the pages I built indicate. :) But am I making things needlessly complicated? -Nikki
    • I think your work on the theme pages looks good. :) While originally my idea was just to have 'shadow monsters' link to all the information about that particular plot, I've got no problem with this being broken up if people feel there's enough information or that it's easier to follow in a different format. And I think, in this case at least, this is certainly true. However, this is a group project, so other people are certainly welcome to chime in with their opinions too! - P
  • Just wanted to say I'm really impressed with all the Characters pages I'm seeing so far. Good work guys! - P
  • Would people find a Wiki chan on the game of use, to exchange tips and ask questions? Let me know. - P
  • What about adding to the Template a section for "Wanted"? Example: Say someone plays Husk and her player wants someone to play one of the rest of the Guthrie clan, she could put that right into her page and remove it as people did so? Or do you think we can just allow people to add such a section if they feel it applies to them? -- Alice
    • I've gone ahead and added this section, but also a note that people are welcome to remove any parts of the template they don't want to use. Figure it's probably easier to figure out how to remove text than adding it in from scratch. - P
  • I've discovered how to add a Comments section to pages. So far, this is only enabled on pages in the Characters group. Are there any other pages or groups that people think would benefit from having a comments section? Grid? Theme? I may add to the XMRWiki FAQ a quick bit of how to add a comments field to a specific page. - P
    • XMRWiki FAQ section has been added. - P
      • Grid would be a good spot to put comments; players can add what locations are their faves, if they have ideas for additions, etc. As for Theme, possibly? I'd have to consider where else to add things... Guess it would help if I knew what all the groups were. -- Alice (Duh... nevermind... I see they're actually in the left nav. Duh, big red truck. Ignore me. I need more caffeine.)
        • Comments sections added to Grid, Theme and Teams sub-pages. By default, I've chosen not to have them show up on the main page for each of these groups, but this can be enabled easily enough if people want it. - P
  • Taking suggestions here for a small number of beta testers from our playerbase. They don't need to be especially proficient (since we want an array of skill on here), but they do need to be trustworthy, reliable, available, and understanding that this is still very much a work in progress. If you disagree with a choice, feel free to comment or just remove it from the list (yay collaboration). - P
    • List removed since we've sent out the invites. If you want anyone else invited, comment here and we may send them a copy of the @mail.
      • Sure thing. :) -- Alice
  • Wanted to mention that I like that we're including info on NPCs such as Jacob and the plotline that he's involved with... as well as Magneto. It really seems to show what's happening on the grid plot-wise. -- Alice
    • I noticed that you included a link to Moira on X's bg. Perhaps I'll move NPCs to the Characters section (right now they're in Theme, since that would probably make more sense and allow for links to NPCs that aren't directly driven by plot (Moira, Mystique, etc.). - P
      • Eih, I like the idea of keeping PCs and NPCs separate, IMO, but perhaps someone has a better idea / stance on this? -- Alice
  • Btw, I noticed that you really did do quite a bit of work on the wiki last night. Excellent job, Digm. :) Meanwhile, I'll see what I can help out with later. I should be more 'around' over the next two days and then maybe for a bit Wednesday (from work). Added those links (external) for you on the links page, btw. I think I might have mentioned this. -- Alice
  • Currently, I'm pondering perhaps making a limited release of this. To the rest of staff and perhaps a few of our more valuable/trusted players (sort of a beta test, to get it a little more roughed out and really test it before releasing it to the whole playerbase). What do people think of that idea? - P
    • Personally, I think that's a great idea. The more, the merrier, but no, I wouldn't 'release' it to everyone just yet. But yes, the more people working on it, the more information makes it into the wiki and the wider variety of skillsets are used while 'beta testing' in order to find out how user friendly (or not) this truly is... what the learning curve is like and so on. -- Alice.
      • Yeah, I think that might help, getting a few more onboard, now that I'm fairly confident that I want to go forward with this (well, pretty damn sure after the work I've done so far, really, let's face it). :P In light of this, I did tidy up the home page a little. - P
        • I'd hope that we're going to go forward with this now.... because I like this too much. I think if you suddenly scrapped it, I'd have to cry. ;) -- Alice
    • I've done up a rough template for the characters page (though it's currently still missing the actual template, since I'm still trying to figure out a good template for it. However, I think a how-to would still be of use for people who want to try it on their own (and we could also include tips on how to create links to, say, other character's pages or specific plot pages, etc.). Thoughts? - Paradigm
      • I LIKE the template, btw. A lot. I'll see if I can't test it out later by filling it all in for Xavier's page and see how it goes. -- Alice
        • I see you had a chance to give it a try with X. His page is looking good. :) - P
          • Well, thank you! :D Like I mentioned last night, I just got on a roll, I think. Let's hope I get on a roll for more stuff. ;) -- Alice
  • I've messed about with it a bit today and really, as with anything, there is a learning curve. We might need to do up a 'how to create my own page and add it to this list or that list on the site' type of page and even suggest to players who are using the wiki to print off. We can also offer that if they are really getting lost with the wiki code that they submit their info to staff and we'll just set it up for them so that they can just even go in and edit snippets as they need (I found that I am learning how to use wikis through follow-by-example -- if I have a page already there, I can follow the formatting set up for me). But if I'm unclear or if you want to discuss this further one-on-one or would like me to set up a page as an example, just let me know. Admittedly, I'm still trying to figure things out with wikis, but this is similar to another project I'm working on. -- Alice
    • Well, the hope was that the XMRWiki FAQ would help with that, but maybe more specific how-to pages would be a good addition. We could do separate ones for each section (or at least those sections that average Joes are likely to contribute - ie. characters, grid, etc.). It's also possible to do up a template page that people could use for their character page, at least, if you think that might help. But by all means, if you have some specific ideas for a page or series of pages, feel free to do 'em up and we'll see how it works. :) - Paradigm
      • Well, let me have a look at the FAQ and see what's there. Perhaps added onto that, if it doesn't already address it, a small 'cheat sheet' could be added... then again the FAQ is probably enough of a cheat sheet. I can't really say till I have a better look at it. -- Alice
