Background
William Stryker was a military man who performed covert operations on mutants. He was responsible for Wolverine's adamantium-grafted skeleton. When his son turned out to be a mutant, he sent the boy to Xavier with the hope that the professor would heal him of this problem. When this failed, he attempted to use his son's mind-controlling abilities to force Xavier to destroy every mutant on the planet.
