Alice was brought onto staff in this current incarnation of the game and is the Building Wizard and part of the Applications team (App Wizard). She started off originally as Plot Wizard but realized that she doesn't quite have the knack for that. Thankfully, others took that particular hat from her, leaving her clear for building and applications. This is her first X-Men game ever, though she has loved the genre for decades.
She brings with her experience with staffing on about five other MUSHes in the past decade over as many genres and has worn many different 'staffing hats'. Alice claims that she can build in her sleep, as it was apparently the first thing she learned how to do after learning to roleplay on a MUSH and beyond that, her next position was dealing with character applications. Perhaps it's fitting that those are the two main 'hats' she wears at XMR now.
Alice works fulltime and loves American McGee's Alice and the Resident Evil movies (and game). Both the game and movies were apparently the inspiration for her staff name.
(Okay, enough third-person perspective here....)
Useless Facts About Me...
Age: Old as dirt!
Geographical Location: Somewhere in North America.
Other Games: None currently. My primary focus is XMR.
Marital Status: Happily married.
MUSH Staffing Style: Usually pretty easy to get along with but has been said to be 'stubborn like bull' when pushed too much. Despite my more stubborn nature, I do my best to remain polite and professional when dealing with XMR's playerbase and not let any personal biases colour my judgement (if I feel I can't be unbiased, I hand off whatever the issue is to someone who can be unbiased). Ultimately, I try to be as accommodating as I can within the confines of the game and my own status on the game. Heck, I'm just here to have fun and hopefully help others have fun. This is a game, right? :) I also work well alone or in teams and try to be as flexible and open-minded as possible.
Current Project: Seeing about writing up an example application so people have a better idea what we're looking for in an application. Hopefully it helps!
A Note About Me Being Dark A Lot...
I realize that I'm set DARK a lot and therefore don't show up on the WHO list. This does not, however, mean I'm never around. In truth, I'm usually on every day or second day at the least. If I'm not on for three days, it means I'm sick or have had crazy real life things fly up in my face and kidnap me.
If you need to speak with me, the best thing to do is @mail me. If I'm online and capable of giving you my 100% attention, I will page you back. If my attention is split, I may just @mail back. Paging me while I'm set dark might not get you a response as sometimes I may be building or reading applications and your page might get lost in the spam on my screen. I'd hate to come across as ignoring you when I'm definitely not!
If you need me, personally, @mailing me directly is just fine. If you need something in regards to applications, @mail *APPS. For building, @mail *BUILD. Someone will get back to you asap, we promise!
But if it's a real emergency (you're being harassed, you need staff mediation, etc.), please feel free to page me. If I'm online and you don't get a response in said emergency within a matter of minutes, feel free to page me again. If I still don't respond, I may not be at the keyboard (I often forget to set an @idle message) and you may have to @mail *STAFF at that point or see if anyone else is around.
Why am I set DARK a lot? I'm often working on things in the background to help make XMR a cooler place for you guys! Either plotting new building stuff or simply scanning through the applications. It's not that I don't want to be interrupted - I don't want to miss your important question or comment in spam or give you only half of my attention! (And that's not just a line, it's the truth.)
I will try to be un-DARK when I can, but just so you know, I am around!
Regarding Applications:
Before applying for a character on XMR, please remember to read the news files found on the XMR website and the game itself (specifically 'news chargen' information and 'news characters'), as well as the wiki. Please specifically check out the "Things to remember before applying" page and finally the "Writing up powers for an application" page, just to name a few. These documents should give you a pretty good idea on what the game is about, what we're looking for in a character application and how to actually tackle the tough job of writing up powers without using stats.
Now, if you have further questions, that's where your friendly neighbourhood application staff come in. App-Staff and I work very hard on reviewing applications and giving useful feedback on denials so that applicants know how to make their characters work for the XMR world, but we'll also be honest if we feel it just won't work. We're not ogres, but we are honest at the very least. Let's face it, Apocalypse run by a player just isn't going to work. ;)
Regardless, we're willing to work with people on their applications (with the exception of writing it for you, of course! *grins*) to get them on the grid asap.
Please remember that application reviews may take up to 72 hours (we prefer it doesn't take this long, but on occasion, it does happen, depending on RL and the length of the queue).
Regarding Building:
This one's easy: just read over the 'news building' information on-game and building for information on how to build on XMR. Remember to send requests and inquiries to *BUILD via @mail on-game.
Just remember: get your rooms inspected and approved before RPing in them. There are multi-use rooms to use in the interim while you wait! Thanks. :)
