Opera Singer Can Lift Cars!
An interesting video has surfaced on the internet and major news channels this week that has everyone talking. The video in question shows a young woman lifting an overturned car out of a ditch and sitting it back on the road. This is not particularly shocking, since documentation of mutant abilities has been increasingly more common in the past few years. What caught the attention of the general public was the identity of the young woman in question. Anyone familiar with theatre might easily identify the almost nine foot tall girl in the video as a younger version of German-born opera singer Hildegarde VonReginleif, who is to begin performing on Broadway in two weeks time here in New York City.
When asked to comment on the video, Miss VonReginleif had this to say, "I will admit that I am what some people may call a 'mutant', but this fact is of little importance to my public life. This ability that I have is only a small fraction of who I am. I am a person who happens to be a mutant, not a mutant who happens to be a person. I hope that the general public will be understanding of my circumstances, and I will be happy to answer any questions next Friday, when I am to be holding a press conference. "
Pro-Registration act supporters claim that Miss VonReginleif should have notified the United States government of her status before entering the country, claiming that her apparent 'super-strength' is a hazard to anyone who may come too near the woman.
Aside from being well known for her singing voice, Miss VonReginleif is also currently listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the tallest woman alive. Though this title is being called into question by some, claiming that her size may simply be a side mutation and that she has an 'unfair advantage' over the competition. When questioned about the issue, Guinness had this to say, "Unfortunately, the rules of the book become a little blurred when it comes to mutant abilities. If we decide to keep Miss Vonreginleif in the book as the tallest woman alive, we may also need to add her for her lifting ability, as she seemed to have no problem lifting that Volkswagen in the video. While we have not made an official decision, what will likely happen is that Hildegarde VonReginleif will be listed as the tallest mutant known, and the title of tallest human woman ever will be returned to Zeng Jinlian of China."
Human rights activists claim that if such a decision is made, it could hinder mutant rights further, stating that dividing out mutant abilities from human abilities is akin to denouncing mutants as non-humans. When questioned about the issue, Miss VonReginleif stated that she does not really care about the title of 'World's Tallest Woman'. She states that it only reminds her of the fact that she is different from others.
Miss VonReginleif plans to hold a press conference next Friday evening, if time allows. She says that she hopes that she can clear up this issue before the opening of 'Die Walkure' the following Friday.

Press Conference Peril!
((The following story has been airing on tv and internet news broadcasts all day. A few video clips are shown here and there.))
The press conference held by Miss Hildegarde VonReginleif ended with a bit of chaos last night at Broadway's Majestic Theatre. The night started out smoothly enough, but escalated into violence as a mutant extremist began attacking protestors.
While answering the questions of a group of anti-mutant protestors, a young boy whose identity has not yet been revealed attacked the protestors with a beam of energy which shattered much of the glass located in the east end of the foyer. The assailant was apprehended by another boy who was identified as one 'Sam Smith'. After the chaos seemed stifled, Miss VonReginleif was seen throwing a podium at police officers.
Though no one was severely injured, many of the protestors at the event are claiming that this only supports their claim that dangerous mutants should be outed to the public. One of the protestors had this to say, "If that boy had been identified in time, proper precautions could have been put in place by the police to protect the individuals at that conference." Another individual at the conference had this to say, "If those kids (the protestors) had not provoked the attack, then everything would have been fine. I am not a mutant and I was ready to attack them myself. They were very discourteous to poor Miss Hildegarde."
The mutant boy in question is currently in police custody. He is to be tried for assault and public endangerment, but his status as a minor prevented police from being able to give his name out. Miss VonReginleif was also charged with assault on a uniformed officer, though the officer has decided to drop all charges against the woman. She was released from prison this morning after her bail was set.
When questioned about her actions, Miss VonReginleif had the following to say, "I did not intend to harm that poor officer. I only meant to distract him momentarilly. He was pointing a gun and appeared unstable. I did not with for either boy to be shot." Eyewitnesses as well as a couple of videos at the scene confirm Miss VonReginleif's account. Many of the Pro-Registration Activists claim that letting Miss VonReginleif off the hook is a bad mistake, though they have voiced their suspicions that the opera singer has either bribed or threatened the officer she assaulted. Miss VonReginleif has of course denied all of these claims.
As for the opera house itself, the damage was aesthetic in nature only, and no structural damage was done to the building. The play 'Die Walkure' is expected to open on schedule, but with one major change. It appears that Miss VonReginleif has been cut from the play and has been replaced by her understudy Oxana Teufel. Neither the director of the play nor Miss Vonreginleif were willing to comment on this decision.
((A curious note about all of these postings is that any video showing Sam Smith has his face blurred out, though they have shown a photo of him on the news. This has led to a few rumors that the boy on the news was not the same boy present at the conference))
