Biography

MUSH Experience:

I've been around off and on for a number of years on a variety of differently-themed mushes, but this is my first X-Men game. I'm rather excited about it and hope that I don't mess up in the process! Mostly, I was on WoD games for a while. I figured when I came back that I'd branch out a bit.

OtherMU*:

I haven't been on another MU* for a bit. I used to play on them extensively but table top gaming and MMORPGs stole me away for a while. Now I'm back.

RP Prefs:

  • ICA=ICC with consent or warnings
  • Character and plot development, meaningful interaction
  • OOC cooperation
  • IC angst (in appropriate doses)
  • Progression! I can't tell you how much scenes that seem to involve characters running really fast in a single spot lose my interest so very quickly. I like progression in RP. If I feel like the character is getting nowhere, I get very frustrated (as does she ICly).

Scenes Prefs:

I cannot stress this enough: small scenes. Big, huge, complicated group scenes confuse me to no end, plus with being out of practice for a little bit, I need to work into things a little. I can usually handle no more than 3 people in a scene at any given time, though I can probably stretch to 4 if absolutely necessary but this is pushing it these days.

My preference is more for one-on-one scenes.

As noted in my RP Prefs, I like character development...a lot. I want to comment on this briefly since it's come up a couple of times now and I don't want people thinking I don't like them or that I'm a snob! Scenes that involve more than one character and my own have a tendency to 'lose' me. There's too much going on.

My attention span is not as developed as those of others and so I tend to miss things by the time I get to the end of my own pose. I also feel that character development can't always happen (sometimes it does, but sometimes a third or fourth or fifteenth person tosses a wrench in that).

I hope this explains things a little and I hope it doesn't make me sound 'weird'.

RP Dislikes:

  • One-liners
  • Power-gaming
  • Fuzzy IC/OOC lines (I do my best to keep IC and OOC separate... if my character doesn't like yours, chances are, that's not the same case OOCly!)
  • Along those same lines, if I don't offer up info OOCly, it's for a reason. I don't put the contents of my +char sheet up on my wiki page for Laura for a reason: I prefer things to come out gradually via RP. When I first came on the game, people were speculating about what all I kept from the canon character and I really felt 'on the spot' but at my request to drop the subject, people respected that. It's apperciated. :)
  • Scene stealing/lime-light hogging. My-life-is-worse-than-yours / my-powers-rock-more-than-yours / whatever-you-want-to-call-it pissing contests; everyone should get their time in the lime-light, so grandstanding is just unfair to everyone. People raining on other people's fun. I saw this one years ago on another MU* where people would ICly prevent others from going to events, keeping them out of the plot/storylines that they wanted to be involved in. It killed the game very quickly. :/

More soon!
