Summary
The Light plot started out simply enough at a quiet fund raiser where a psycho bum stormed the place with seemingly inhuman strength and a single focused desire to locate something. He demanded the Light out of several people, making it seem as if he were in pain or in danger if he should not locate it. This was ended with some violence and a couple of injuries.
Throughout the city reports just like the one above came flooding in. People being asked odd questions by those who came from all walks of life. There was no physical commonality to these individuals. Only the fact that they all had the single minded drive for something called 'The Light'.
Many people looked into this situation including the police and several mutants. Things came to a head when there was a murder at a barbeque and later a riot. In the end, players learned that 'The Light' was actually a person: Cassandra Monroe; an artist living alone in New York. When the mastermind behind this nearly made off with her, the police began to actively protect her.
There were other avenues as well that people learned information. Gypsies imparted some info and there were some minor investigations. After the major riot, the bad guy hasn't been heard from for a while. It's been assumed that he was exhausted from his attempt and that he's been gathering his strength.

August 7, 2010:
A fundraiser at the Museum of Art was prematurely ended when a homeless man entered the courtyard and caused a scene. The man was eventually subdued but not before accosting a few of the attendees, injuring one. Several people left in a panic. The man was arrested pending charges. Those on the scene have reported that the man seemed to be under the influence of some narcotic; disoriented and speaking in an odd tone of voice. Many facts beyond that have not been revealed and the police are refusing to comment. An interesting point is that Princess Madiniya Al Saud was present at the fundraiser and though it's said she remains unharmed, her bodyguards may have had something to do with quelling the situation.
September 16, 2010:
A police officer was assaulted at Washington Square Park yesterday, suffering from broken ribs and internal injuries. Officer William Graves remains in the hospital in serious condition.
What makes the situation surprising is that the culprit was a fellow police officer, Sergeant John Ableton. Ableton, a nearly fifteen year veteran of the NYPD was taken into custody and is currently being held in the State Hospital psychiatric ward.
Graves was not the only victim of Ableton's violence as a young teenager fractured his elbow and another man suffered a broken nose. Police have not commented on Ableton's actions and have only stated that they are 'investigating the matter'. Witnesses state that Ableton was emotionless, lumbering through the park asking odd questions and accosting people in the process.
October 1, 2010:
A park's barbeque was ended prematurely when a man carrying a severed head entered the area and demanded the crowd's attention. Witnesses claim he made allusions to some end of the world situation before falling dead. More graphic accounts were available of the scene. The police will not comment on the situation nor will they offer any explanation as to the claims by witnesses that there was mention of the mysterious 'Light' that has been plaguging NYC for weeks.
October 20, 2010:
Last Friday evening, the police were forced to respond to more civil disorder this time on a fatal scale. Reports suggest that people just went crazy, attacking anyone that got near them. Several people were injured and killed though the exact number has yet to be released. A police spokesperson has said that the situation was quickly put under control but one witness who declined to be named suggested that only after lethal force was applied did the people stop their attack.
Most odd about this case is the people who were not injured who claimed to have blacked out and just woken up in whatever position they were in. Police have made several arrests but any other details concerning the nature of the crime or the reasons that people were so quick to join others in committing it have yet to be discussed.
November 12, 2010:
Over the next several days, fliers begin springing up around the city. Most heavily in Greenwich Village but distributed more thinly to outlying neighbourhoods as well.

We are looking for the man pictured here and any information that may lead to his whereabouts. This man should be considered extremely dangerous and is wanted for questioning regarding several recent violent crimes.

Black hair is swept back from a tall, pale brow. Bushy brows preside over ratlike eyes that seem to be little more than black pinholes amidst a field of white flesh. He's clean shaven with a sharp bone structure in the face and a hawkish nose. By all accounts he seems to be terribly thin but there's a sinister air to the portrait.
